Vietnam, Laos ensure smooth transport at Bo Y-Phu Cua border gate
Competent agencies of Vietnam and Laos have coordinated with each other to ensure the movement of people and goods at the Bo Y-Phu Cua international border gate under the Hanoi Agreement reached by the two countries in 2007.

Kon Tum (VNA) – Competent agencies ofVietnam and Laos have coordinated with each other to ensure the movement ofpeople and goods at the Bo Y-Phu Cua international border gate under the HanoiAgreement reached by the two countries in 2007.
The results came out during a working trip by ajoint team of the Vietnam-Laos and Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committees toVietnam’s Central Highlands province of Kon Tum on May 26.
The visit aimed to inspect the implementation ofthe Hanoi Agreement, which was formed to facilitate the travel of people andtransport of goods via the Bo Y (in Kon Tum)- Phu Cua (in Laos’ Attapeuprovince) border gate.
Over the past ten years, the two sides alsoexchanged information regarding relevant policies and administrative proceduresin each country.
In the first four months of this year, more than63,500 people and over 9,000 vehicles traversed through the border gate withimport-export turnover reaching nearly 65 million USD, contributing over 79billion VND (3.5 million USD) to the State budget.
Authorities of Kon Tum and Attapeu provincessuggested upgrading Road 18B connecting Bo Y and Attapeu in order to ensurebetter movement of goods after the road is linked with the Bo Y –Gia Laiexpressway and the Ho Chi Minh City-Da Nang route.
At the same time, the agreement should beamended and supplemented to create more favourable conditions for thetranspor🐟tation, thus fostering trade cooperation between the two countries,they said.-VNA
Vietnam has provided over 29.5 billion VND for Laos between 2008 and 2010 to build a cross-border check-point at the Phu Cua International Border Gate in Attapeu province, according to the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum ’s Department of Planning and Investment.
The border marker No. 790 at the Bo Y-Phu Cua border gate that links Vietnam ’s central highlands province of Kon Tum with Laos ’ Attpeu province was inaugurated on May 19.
