Vietnam now has sufficient resources for mass COVID-19 vaccination

Vietnam has gained sufficient resources for purchasing 150 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine and conduct vaccination for the entire people, according to President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Do Van Chien.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has gainedsufficient resources for purchasing 150 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine andconduct vaccination for the entire people, according to President of theVietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Do Van Chien.

The VFF Central Committee held an event in Hanoion July 13 to publicise the initial use of the donations via text messages tothe COVID-19 combat.

The text-to-donate campaign was launched inearly June by the VFF Central Committee, the Vietnam General Confederation ofLabour, and the Ministry of Information and Communications.

So far, 2.5 million text messages have sent to1408 of the National Humanitarian Portal, donating 115 billion VND (nearly 5million USD) to the COVID-19 vaccine fund of the Government.

Thanks to the donations via text messages, over8 trillion VND transferred to the fund, and funding from the State budget,Vietnam has secured sufficient financial resources for administering 150million vaccine doses for all people, Chien said.

He thanked philanthropists, businesses,Vietnamese people both at home and abroad, and foreigners in the country fortheir contributions.

Given the pandemic’s prolonged and complexdevelopments, which still require large financial resources to counter, theofficial expressed his hope that the VFF Central Committee will receive moresupport for this combat.

So far, Vietnam has secured 105 million vaccinedoses committed for this year and is working to get 150 million doses so as toachieve herd immunity in late 2021 or early 2022. As many as 8.7million doses are scheduled to arrive in the country this July./.
