Vietnam presents 5,000 tonnes of rice to Cuba

The delivery of 5,000 tonnes of Vietnamese rice to Cuba as a gift took place at the headquarters of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment (MINCEX) on June 19.

Havana (VNA) – The delivery of 5,000tonnes of Vietnamese rice to Cuba as a gift took place at the headquarters ofthe Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment (MINCEX) on June 19.

The gift was announced by President Tran DaiQuang during his visit to Cuba in November 2016.

Present at the delivery ceremony were DeputyDirector General of the Vietnamese General Department of State Reserves Le VanThoi, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Nguyen Trung Thanh, Director General of theCuba Food Export-Import Corporation (Allimport) Alejandro Mustelier Zamora,among others. 

Le Van Thoi recalled material and spiritualassistance the Cuban people had given to Vietnamese people in the past, andemphasised the support of the Vietnamese Party, State and people for the Cubanpeople’s revolutionary cause.

For his part, Alejandro Mustelier Zamora thankedfor the gift, saying that it is a token of friendship between the two Parties,States and peoples.

He highlighted the gift’s significance for peoplein Cuba’s eastearn provinces, who suffered from a strong storm last year.

The rice has arrived at the port of Santiago city,eastern Cuba and were transfered to the Cuban side.-VNA
