The Hanoi People’s Court has accepted the Russian Federation Procuracy’sproposal to extradite two wanted Russians who were arrested inVietnam.
The decision was made at a recentmeeting by the court to consider the extradition of the two criminals,based on the regulations of the Penal Code, the Criminal Procedure Code,the Judicial Assistance Law and the Judicial Assistance Agreementbetween Vietnam and Russia.
According to therecords of the Russian Federation Procuracy, Poliakov Valeriy, 39, waswanted by Interpol on charges of setting up criminal gangs, attackingcitizens, storing weapons and blackmailing. The arrest warrant for himwas issued on September 7, 2012.
Kosenok Alexey, 36, was charged of blackmailing and using force to appropriate citizens’ property.
Both were arrested by Vietnamese police at the Lao Bao InternationalBorder Gate in the central province of Quang Tri on July 9, 2013when they were attempting to flee to Laos .
TheRussian Federation Procuracy asked the Vietnamese side to extradite thetwo criminals because they had committed crimes that were not related topolitical and religious affairs.
At the meeting,the Hanoi People’s Court concluded that pursuant to the Vietnamese law,the two Russians committed such crimes as appropriating anddeteriorating property; illegally producing, storing, transporting andtrading weapons; and robbery.-VNA
