Hanoi (VNA) - Deputy General Director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Nguyen Thi Su on September 5 received Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Pasaxon newspaper of Laos Syvanh Homsayadeth on the occasion of his working visit to Vietnam.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan (People) newspaper of Vietnam Dinh Nhu Hoan also attended the meeting.

Su expressed her pleasure at the close and effective cooperation and professional exchange between Pasaxon and Nhan Dan, saying that this contributes to the dissemination of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

She introduced the development of VNA, noting that the 79-year-old agency now has five editorial boards, two information centres, eight print and digital newsrooms, along with functional units, information service units, one publishing house, and two printing enterprises. It boasts representative offices in all the 63 provinces and centrally run cities across the nation, and 30 others abroad.

In the current digital media environment, the VNA operates under a multimedia communication model, which will continue to be the agency's development orientation in the coming time.

According to Su, the VNA has invested heavily in developing information technology applications for internal management and operation, as well as for journalistic activities. It has also implemented various solutions for cyber safety and security, and enhanced the use of artificial intelligence and databases in the information production process.

In his speech, Hoan said Nhan Dan newspaper has closely cooperated with Pasaxon newspaper in upgrading the e-newspaper system, and providing personnel training in digital transformation, meeting requirements in accordance with new trends.

Under a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two sides signed in December 2023, Nhan Dan has supported the Lao newspaper in developing, operating and managing its e-newspaper system, he said.

Nhan Dan is committed to assisting Pasaxon in modernising its e-newspaper, thus disseminating the guidelines and policies of the Lao Party and State more effectively, and meeting the requirements of the new phase, Hoan stated.

For his part, Homsayadeth praised the VNA's rapid development and quick technology adoption, particularly regarding investment in technical infrastructure. He noted that Pasaxon's direction is to look towards multimedia and multi-platform approaches like the VNA.

The relationship and sharing of news sources between the VNA and Pasaxon contribute to strengthening the solidarity, friendship, and special cooperation between the two countries, he said.

Homsayadeth thanked the VNA for sharing experience, affirming that Pasaxon will apply it to enhance the quality of information. He expressed a desire to expand cooperation and experience sharing between the two agencies in the future.

🔯 He also showed gratitude and appreciation for the practical support by Nhan Dan to Pasaxon in recent times, hoping to continue receiving the Vietnamese newspaper's support in the digital transformation process, especially in training personnel in expertise, skills and technology, thus helping Pasaxon become one of the most modern digital newspapers in Laos./.
