Mexico City (VNA) – A delegation from Vietnam’s National Assembly (NA) led by NAVice Chairman General Do Ba Ty made a working visit to Mexico from November 22to December 2 to promote friendship and cooperation between the two countriesand two legislative bodies.
In his meetingswith President of the Mexican Senate Pablo Escudero Morales and Vice Presidentof the Chamber of Deputies Alejandro Ojeda Anguiano, the NA Vice Chairmanaffirmed Vietnam treasures relations with Mexico and wishes to boost thecomprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Ty hailed the effectivecooperation between the Vietnamese NA and the Mexican Congress in the pastyears and reiterated the Vietnamese NA’s support for the development ofmultifaceted ties with Mexico through creating a favourable legal framework forforeign enterprises, including those from Mexico, to do business in Vietnam.
The NA ViceChairman expressed his satisfaction at the frequent visits made by seniorofficials of both countries and their close coordination and mutual support atinternational organisations and multilateral forums like the United Nations,the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) Forum and the East Asia - LatinAmerica Cooperation Forum.
He conveyed NAChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s invitation to the President of the Senate and thePresident of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico to visit Vietnam at anappropriate time.
On his part, theMexican Congress leaders affirmed they are ready to share experience with Vietnamin law-making, supervision and settlement of voters’ petitions as well as to usetheir role to bolster bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, education,health, culture and tourism.
They said thetwo sides should devise specific solutions and recommendations to increase bilateraltrade to a level corresponding to the potential of the two countries.
Mexican Congressleaders appreciated the role and position of the Vietnamese NA on the internationalarena. They invited the Vietnamese NA Vice Chairman and his entourage to attenda plenary session of the Senate and Chamber of Deputies.
During thevisit, the Vietnamese delegation also met with Senator Teofilo Torres andpresident of the Mexican friendship parliamentarians’ group in the Chamber ofDeputies Claudia Corichi.
The delegationheld a working session with Mexican Defence Minister Salvador Cienfuegos Zepedaand Minister of the Navy VidalFrancisco Seasons, during which the two sides agreed to work to enhancebilateral defence and navy ties, and towards the opening of military attachéoffices in the other country.
During all the meetings andworking sessions, Mexican legislative leaders and ministers affirmed theirsupport for Vietnam’s stance on addressing disputes in the East Sea by peacefulmeasures in line with international law, especially the UN Convention on theLaw of the Sea, without the use of or threat to use of force while fully respectingdiplomatic and legal processes, making efforts to manage sea disputes andmaintaining peace, stability, and maritime and aviation security and safety onthe East Sea.
🌸 The VietnameseNA delegation also had a working session with the congress of the Puebla state,met General Secretary of the Mexican Workers Party Alberto Anaya and laid flowersat the Ho Chi Minh monument at the Historic Centre in Mexico City.-VNA
