Hanoi VNA) – The state visits by Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam to Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are expected to further strengthen relations between Vietnam and the Central Asian countries, according to international media.

Kazakhstan's Kazinform News Agency’s qazinform.com quoted President Tokayev as saying that Lam’s historic trip to Kazakhstan will create more momentum to expand cooperation between the two nations, which has great potential but has not been fully tapped.

The same day, astanatimes.com published an article providing an overview of prospects for cooperation between Hanoi and Astana, while highlighting the factors that bind Vietnam and Kazakhstan. It stressed that since establishing diplomatic ties in 1992, the two countries have developed a solid legal foundation, signing dozens of interstate, intergovernmental, and interdepartmental treaties and agreements. Vietnam becomes one of Kazakhstan’s leading partners in Southeast Asia, with two-way trade reaching around 800 million USD in 2024. It noted that in 2023, the two countries signed an agreement on visa exemption, allowing citizens of both sides to travel without a visa for up to 30 days, effective from May 2024.

According to the US-based travelandtourworld.com, the three-day visit on May 5-7 marks an important milestone in the growing bilateral relationship, with the potential to further boost tourism and business exchanges between Vietnam and Kazakhstan. It stressed that regular direct flights between the two countries have remained stable since they are resumed in 2022, and a new route is expected to be launched in the coming months, promising to enhance air connectivity between Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and other ASEAN countries.

It stated that the Vietnamese Party chief’s visit marks a new chapter in the bilateral relationship between the two nations, and it is expected to elevate political trust and foster comprehensive cooperation across various sectors.

The website said Vietnam-Kazakhstan relations have made significant progress. Lam’s trip is hoped to further strengthen cooperation, aligning with the common goals and development priorities of the two nations. It will lay a robust foundation for long-term cooperation, strengthening ties in both traditional and emerging fields, marking an important step toward a deeper, more strategic partnership between Vietnam and Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's outlets caliber.az and report.az reported that Baku expects a significant breakthrough in its relations with Vietnam on the occasion of Lam’s state visit tothe country.

Azerbaijani media quoted the country’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Shovgi Kamal Oglu Mehdizade, as emphasising that the Vietnamese Party leader’s state visit to Azerbaijan is particularly important and historic. The diplomat said Azerbaijan hopes the visit - the first by a leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) since the two countries established diplomatic ties, will elevate bilateral relations to a new milestone, promoting deeper cooperation in many areas, including tourism, education, information technology, transportation, production, agricultural initiatives, and environmental projects.

🌳 According to caliber.az, Azerbaijan and Vietnam have built a dynamic and multi-faceted partnership since establishing diplomatic ties in 1992. Economic cooperation has been also strengthened, with two-way trade reaching over 590 million USD in 2022. The outlet noted that Azerbaijan’s strategic location offers Vietnam a viable route to access European markets, while Vietnam’s dynamic economy presents new opportunities for Azerbaijan’s exports./.
