Hanoi (VNA) – Party General Secretary andPresident Nguyen Phu Trong received Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo inHanoi on January 21.

The leader highly valued the outcomes of the twocountries’ recent exchanges and cooperation, stressing that Vietnam and Chinaare neighbours who are both led by communist parties. Their traditionalfriendship, built by late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong and nurtured bygenerations of leaders, is a precious asset that both sides need to uphold andpromote.

Amidst the current global and regionalsituation, the two parties and countries should increase experience sharing,foster substantive and effective cooperation in all aspects, and properlyresolve outstanding problems on the basis of the common perceptions sharedbetween their leaders and the international law, thus bringing practicalbenefits to the two peoples and contributing to peace, cooperation, anddevelopment in the region and the world, he noted.

For his part, Xiong Bo expressed his honour toserve as Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, voicing his delight at the sounddevelopment of relations between the two parties and countries in recent years.

He pledged all-out efforts to activelycontribute to bilateral connections.

The Chinese Party and Government attach theutmost importance to friendship with Vietnam, the diplomat stressed, addingthat they hope the two sides will press on with high-ranking exchanges; cooperationbetween their ministries, sectors, and localities; and substantive partnershipsin all spheres, thereby helping to develop the China-Vietnam comprehensivestrategic cooperative partnership in a stable and healthy manner. –VNA
