Vietnamese sailors on Malaysian sunk ship rescued

Two Vietnamese sailors rescued from a sunk Malaysian fishing vessels were brought back to Vietnam on January 15 by a ship of Zone 3 Search and Rescue Centre on January 15.

–Two Vietnamese sailors rescued from a sunk Malaysian fishing vessels werebrought back to Vietnam on January 15 by a ship of Zone 3 Search and Rescue Centreon January 15.

The two are Huynh A Met, born in 1985, in thesouthernmost province of Ca Mau, and Ly Chien, born in 1983 in the Mekong Deltaprovince of Soc Trang.

They were rescued on January 12 by the ship MG Neptuneen route to Vung Tau city in Vietnam’s southeastern coastal province of Ba Ria–Vung Tau.

Met and Chien were among 13 Vietnamese sailors workingon the ship PAF 4583 of Malaysia, which sank in international waters nearSingapore.

Eight other Vietnamese victims have been rescuedby the ship Asiatic Dawn en route to Malaysia’s Klang Port, and one rescued by theship Nordlily on its way to Singapore. All the nine are in stable healthcondition, according to the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue CoordinationCentre (VIETNAMMRCC), citing notice from its Singaporean counterpart.

The VIETNAMMRCC has requested the Singaporean Centreto search for the two remained fishermen who are still missing.

The centre said it had been able to contact asailor named Toan, who was rescued by the Asiatic Dawn. According to Toan, thePAF 4583 belongs to a Vietnamese named Nguyen Van Hau who is living inMalaysia. There are a total of 13 sailors on the ship.-VNA
