Hanoi (VNA) – The global-scale cyber securitycompetition Whitehat Grand Prix 2018, themed Legends of Vietnam, is scheduledto begin on August 18.
According to deputy head of the Information SecurityDepartment Nguyen Huy Dung, the competition is a solution to promote humanresources development on information safety and security.
The content of the Whitehat Grand Prix 2018 are set to bedeveloped around 18 Vietnamese legends in a bid to promote the country’sculture. IT engineers behind the content come from the Information SecurityDepartment, Viettel’s cyber security centre, and BKAV Corporation, amongothers.
The online qualification round of the event will run for astraight 24 hours on August 18 and 19. Ten outstanding teams survived the roundwill gather in Hanoi in mid-October to compete directly for eight consecutivehours. The final round will cover the challenge of overcoming hardware securitybreaches.
Online registration has been opened at www.WhiteHat.vn starting July 31.
The first-prize winner will pocket 230 million VND (10,000USD), while the second and third will go home with approximately 45 million VNDand 25 million VND (2,000 and 1,000 USD), respectively.
In 2014, the first WhiteHat Grand Prix was heldsimultaneously in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It became an annual internationalcompetition the next year, drawing the participation of leading cyber securityteams all over the world.
In 2017, it attracted 453 teams from 62 nations andterritories.-VNA
A global information security competition will take place for the first time in Vietnam, announced BKAV, the top local internet security firm and host of the event, on September 23.
Team CLGTftMeePwn of Vietnam won the first prize at the WhiteHat Grand Prix 2017 cyber security competition, which took place in Hanoi on December 16-17 under the theme “Vietnam Heritages”.
Vietnamese businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), must embrace digital and AI transformations to remain competitive and achieve sustainable growth, experts said.
Under the European Union (EU)’s global initiative on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Risk Mitigation Centres of Excellence (CoE), Vietnam has implemented numerous projects aimed at strengthening national capacity in detecting, preventing, and preparing for CBRN-related threats.
