Hanoi (VNA) – Four people were killed in Batam city, Riau Islands province of Indonesia, after a landslide struck a housing complex early on January 13.
The disaster also injured five others and destroyed five houses, according to the province's disaster mitigation agency.
Hendrija, head of the agency's rehabilitation and reconstruction division, told local media that heavy rains had been falling in the Riau Islands since January 10 and are expected to continue until January 18.
He later urged the public to remain vigilant and alert for potential further natural disasters.
