- Party General Secretary and State President To Lam chaired a meeting of the Politburo held in Hanoi on August 23 to discuss the master plan for Ho Chi Minh City in the 2021 - 2024 period, with a vision to 2050.

-Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a speech at the third ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit via videoconference, at an invitation of his Lao counterpart Sonexay Siphandone.
Themed “Strengthening care economy and resilience towards ASEAN Community post-2025”, this year’s event focused on the challenges and difficulties faced by women in undertaking unpaid care work and the associated multidimensional consequences such as gender inequality, limited access to education and employment opportunities, and gender-based violence.Read full story
-Deputy Minister of National Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien and Singaporean Permanent Secretary of Defence Chan Heng Kee co-chaired the 15th Singapore-Vietnam Defence Policy Dialogue in Singapore on August 22.
At the event, the two sides discussed regional and international situation and issues of shared concern, while sharing viewpoints on the need to maintain peace, stability, ensure security, safety and freedom of navigation and overflight in the East Sea, settle disputes through peaceful measures in line with international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982 UNCLOS), effectively and fully implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), and build a substantive and effective Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in conformity with international law.Read full story
- More than 50 experts and senior officials from the Vietnamese and Cambodian ministries of public health and eight border provinces attended a workshop held in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang to discuss emerging infectious diseases and strengthen cross-border collaboration on public health security at national and regional levels.The workshop on sharing information and developing a cooperation plan for disease outbreak preparedness and response between Vietnam and Cambodia was jointly organised by the General Department of Preventive Medicine under the Ministry of Health, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Vietnam.Read full story

- Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet, who is also head of the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) delegation of Vietnam, attended a series of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)'s meetings in Luang Prabang city, Laos on August 21 – 22.
The events, consisting of the ASEAN SOM, the ASEAN Plus Three Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM ASEAN+3), and the East Asia Summit Preparatory Senior Officials' Meeting (EAS Prep-SOM), focused discussion on preparations for the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related summits, which will take place from October 8-11 in Vientiane, Laos.Read full story

Specifically, the country’s 5% broken rice is currently being traded at 575 USD per tonne, which is 14 USD and 34 USD higher per tonne than Thailand's and Pakistan’s, respectively. Additionally, the price of Vietnam's 25% broken rice has increased to 539 USD per tonne, exceeding those of similar products from the two countries by 27 USD and 22 USD per tonne, respectively.Read full story/.
