Cambodia, China kick off Golden Dragon exercise despite coronavirus
The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and the China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) kicked off the annual joint military exercise dubbed Golden Dragon in Cambodia’s Kampot province despite the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) outbreak.

Hanoi (VNA) – The RoyalCambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and the China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA)kicked off the annual joint military exercise dubbed Golden Dragon inCambodia’s Kampot province despite the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) outbreak.
The openingceremony was chaired by RCAF commander-in-chief Vong Pisen and ChineseAmbassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian.
Themed“Together against terrorism and for humanitarian operations”, the drill drewthe participation of about 2,200 soldiers. It will run until March 30.
The GoldenDragon exercise was first held in 2016. Key activities this year involve mine clearance,deactivation of unexploded ordnance or chemical weapons, fighting with tanks,rescuing hostages, and humanitarian aid activities.

Cambodia and China began the annual joint military exercise named Golden Dragon 2019 on March 13 in Cambodia’s Kampot province with the participation of nearly 3,000 soldiers of both sides.
