SDGs, alsoknown as Global Goals, were adopted by all UN member states in 2015 as auniversal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that allpeople enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

According to Khmer Times, in his remarks at the leaders’ meeting onFinancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Era of COVID-19and Beyond, PM Hun Sen said that this disruption stems from a number ofreasons, including a decline in efforts by each member state because of a needto shift policy priorities and resources to combat coronavirus and the growingadherence to nationalism and protectionism by some global superpowers.

The CambodianPM also emphasised some priority work related to finance, saying that this is important fordeveloping countries to work towards fulfilling the 2030 finance agenda.

Private investment and capital flow to developing countries is required, particularly the promotion of foreign direct investment and public-privatepartnership mechanisms, he stressed.

The Cambodian government recentlyhas announced measures to further promote economic growth and prepare for thepost-pandemic period, which aim ensure that poor families will continue toreceive social assistance during this difficult time./.
