Cambodian NA leader stresses significance of cooperation with Vietnam

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang paid acourtesy call to President of the host country’s new-tenure National Assembly (NA)Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary in Phnom Penh on November 3.
The hosthighly valued Vietnam’s development achievements. She emphasised thesignificance of the cooperation and mutual support between the two countries,as well as among Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam during their struggles fornational independence in the past and national development at present.
Appreciatingthe timely assistance from the Vietnamese Party, State and army for theliberation of Cambodia from the genocidal regime, she voiced her delight thatthe traditional solidarity, neighbourliness, and friendship between the twocountries have been developing unceasingly through the maintenance of frequenthigh-level mutual visits, the promotion of existing cooperation mechanisms, theenhancement of ties between ministries and sectors, and the recentimprovements in economic, trade and investment partnerships.
She asked both sides to build on the achievementsin the two legislative bodies’ cooperation, maintain durable relations, enhanceconnections, and work together to implement the reached agreements to help consolidateand promote the effectiveness of the parliaments’ ties.
For his part, Tang conveyed the congratulationsfrom NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and other Vietnamese leaders to his host, andalso expressed his admiration for the Cambodian people’s enormous attainmentsin domestic and external affairs.
He said he believes the seventh-tenure NA and theRoyal Government of Cambodia will continue helping the country develop moreprosperously.
The diplomatalso affirmed that Vietnam is a long-standing and close friend of Cambodia, andit appreciates Cambodia’s support and assistance for its fight for national liberationand reunification in the past, along with national construction and defence nowadays.
At themeeting, President Khuon Sudary and Ambassador Tang also discussed some issues ofthe countries’ relations.
They agreedto maintain all-level mutual visits to share experience and information,continue bringing into play existing cooperation mechanisms and the trilateralcooperation among Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, strengthen comprehensivecooperation, especially in trade and investment, and support each other indifferent fields to generate practical benefits for both sides./.
A conference on bolstering trade cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia in 2023 opened in Phnom Penh on October 26, within the framework of the ongoing Vietnam-Cambodia Defence, Economic Production Exhibition 2023 (VIDEX 2023).
Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet and Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Soeung Rathchavy co-chaired the 8th political consultation between the two foreign ministries in the Cambodian city of Preah Sihanouk on October 26.
