Cambodian PM to attend Mekong, CLV summits in Vietnam

Prime Minister of Cambodia Hun Sen will attend the sixth Greater Mekong Sub-Region Summit (GMS-6) and 10th Cambodia – Laos – Vietnam Development Triangle Summit (CLV-10) in Hanoi.

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Prime Ministerof Cambodia Hun Sen will attend the sixth Greater Mekong Sub-Region Summit(GMS-6) and 10th Cambodia – Laos – Vietnam Development Triangle Summit (CLV-10)in Hanoi.

Invited by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc,Hun Sen will lead a delegation to the events on March 30 and 31.

According to a press release of theCambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, theCambodian PM will deliver a speech at the GMS Business Summit, focusing on thesuccesses and challenges in the development of the Mekong sub-region.

It said during the 6th GMS Summit, themed“Leveraging on 25 Years of Cooperation, and Building a Sustainable, Integrated,and Prosperous GMS”, participating leaders will formally adopt the Hanoi ActionPlan 2018-2022 and the Regional Investment Framework 2022.

At the CLV-10, the leaders will review pastachievements of the initiative and set plans for the future in key areas,including cooperation in economy, trade, investment, infrastructure and energy.They will adopt the Plan of Action for Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam economicconnectivity up to 2030 and sign a joint declaration.

The participation of Prime Minister Hun Sen atthe two events reflects Cambodia’s commitment to promoting friendship withinthe GMS and the CLV to ensure peace, stability and development in the region.

The Cambodian PM’s entourage includes AunPornmoniroth, Senior Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance; SunChanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transports; VarKimhong, Senior Minister, Chairman of the National Border Committee; PanSorasak, Minister of Commerce; Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism; Hang ChuonNaron, Minister of Education, Youth and Sports; and Veng Sakhon, Minister ofAgriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.-VNA
