Cambodian PM to visit Thailand

 Bangkok (VNA) –൲ Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen will pay an official visit to Thailand on December 18-19 and co-chair the two countries’ joint cabinet meeting, according to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The visit is part of activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Cambodia , the ministry said in a press release on December 14.

During their talks on December 18, Cambodian PM Hun Sen and his Thai counterpart Prayut Chan-o-cha are expected to discuss issues on bilateral ties, the celebration of 65 years of the Thai-Cambodian diplomatic relations, cooperation on the development of the two countries’ border areas, agriculture, trade and investment, as well as the enhancement of connectivity, and cooperation at regional and international forums.

Hun Sen is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Thailand-Cambodia Business Forum organised by the Thai Foreign Ministry and the Thailand-Cambodia Friendship Association.

On December 19, the two PMs will co-chair a joint cabinet meeting to discuss how to promote cooperation in key areas of mutual concern such as political, economic, social and cultural issues.

They will witness the signing of four documents, including the second joint cabinet meeting’s joint declaration, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on development of cross-border control facilities and the construction of a bridge and roads between the Thai province of Takeo and Cambodia’s Banteay Meanchey province; an MoU on labour cooperation; and an agreement on the employment.

💯 According to statistics from the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, bilateral trade between the two countries has increased steadily in recent year, reaching 5 billion USD last year.-VNA
