Cambodia’s agricultural product exports surge 46.47 percent in nine months

Cambodia’s agricultural product exports surged 46.47 percent year-on-year in the first nine months of 2021, despite the global COVID-19 crisis, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia’s agricultural product exportssurged 46.47 percent year-on-year in the first nine months of 2021, despite theglobal COVID-19 crisis, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestryand Fisheries.

The country shipped more than 3,89 million tonnes ofagricultural products, besides milled rice and paddy rice, to 68 countries andterritories during the period, the Cambodia news agency AKP quoted the ministryas saying.

A report by the ministry showed that the main exportedagricultural products included cassava, cashew nuts, corn, fresh banana,pomelos, mangos, pepper, and chili.

While the export of corn, tobacco, and mixed vegetables sawa decline, that of fresh chili, fresh banana, pomelos, mango products (fresh,jam, syrup), cashew nuts, soybeans, beans, and pepper increased sharply, from45 to over 500 percent.

The report said Cambodia’s agricultural exports fromJanuary to September generated an estimated income of about 2.71 billion USD.

Last year, Cambodia exported 4.37 billion USD worth ofagricultural products, up 500 million USD from 2019, the ministry reported./.
