HCM City (VNA) – Cambodia’s developmentsin various fields over the past 40 years are inseparable from Vietnam’s supportand help, a Cambodian official affirmed on January 6.
Speaking at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City to mark the 40th anniversary of the victory day of the southwestern border defence war andoverthrow of the genocidal regime in Cambodia, the country’s Consul General inthe city Im Hen further said his people forever keep in mind that January 7 istheir second birthday.
The diplomat also affirmed that without that day, there willbe nothing of Cambodia today, describing this as a truth of the historyunshakable by any reactionary force.
Im Hen spoke highly of the close cooperation between theParties, States and peoples of the two countries, expressing his profoundgratitude to Vietnam for its sacrifices and pure help to Cambodia, especiallyin the defence cooperation and healthcare programmes for Cambodian.
At the ceremony, Vice Admiral Tran Hoai Trung, Secretary ofthe Party Committee and Political Commissar of Military Region 7 recalled thedays when they fought to defend the border and joined hands with Cambodiantroops and people to topple the genocidal regime 40 years ago. He affirmed thatthe victory is of a very great significance in the survival and development ofthe Cambodian nation.
The combatant solidarity between the peoples of Vietnam andCambodia will be inscribed forever in the history as vivid evidence affirmingthe bright justice and pure help from the Vietnamese people to the Cambodianpeers, the officer stressed.
Vietnam’s Military Region 7 directly made greatcontributions to the war and helped Cambodian people in 10 years.
