HCMCity (VNA) - Can Tho city in the Mekong Delta hopes to boost tourism witha clutch of cultural and tourism events in the next three months, according toits Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Itplans to host the Tan Loc Fruit Garden Festival, Cai Rang Floating MarketFestival, Ninh Kieu Flower Garland Festival and Phong Dien Ecotourism Festival,Nguyen Hoang On, Director of the department’s Tourism Development Centre, said.
Itwould also regularly check tourist routes, tourist attractions and traditionalcraft villages, wharves, hotels and other accommodation to improve the qualityof services, he said.
Thedepartment has adopted the code of conduct for tourists issued by the Ministryof Culture, Sports and Tourism last month.
Ithas set up a tourist hotline (0888 177 666) and a bilingual website at//tourismcantho.vn to offer assistance and provide information totourists.
Thenumber of tourist arrivals jumped by 10 percent in the first quarter of theyear to more than 1.86 million, according to the department.
Ofthem, nearly 500,000 visitors stayed overnight, including more than 75,000foreigners.
Tourismrevenues were worth more than 496 billion VND (21.94 million USD), ayear-on-year increase of 2 percent.
