Can Tho to hold activities to mark Vietnam-Japan ties anniversary

A string of activities will be held in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho to mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties (September 21, 1973-2018).

Can Tho (VNA) – A string of activities will be held in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho to mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties (September 21, 1973-2018).

Specifically, the city will have friendship exchanges with the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association in Sakai city and Kansai region from June 24-30.

A ceremony to celebrate the anniversary will take place on August 8, while construction on the Vietnam-Japan industrial zone project and the model farm project will start on August 9.

The fourth Vietnam-Japan trade and cultural exchange programme will be organised in the city from November 2-4.

In addition, a series of workshops on socio-cultural and trade cooperation and investment promotion will be held in June, August and November.

Speaking at a working session with representatives from municipal departments and sectors on preparation work on May 9, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam said that these activities aim at intensifying the two countries’ strategic partnership and cooperation between Can Tho and Japan’s Hyogo prefecture and Okayama city.

Deputy Director of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Can Tho chapter Nguyen Phuong Lam stressed the need for thorough preparations for the organisation of these activities as they will help raise bilateral trade relations to a new height.-VNA
