China and Laos have agreed to build a community of shared future with strategic importance during Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to the Southeast Asian country.

Hanoi (VNA) - China and Laos have agreed to build a community of shared future withstrategic importance during Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to theSoutheast Asian country.

The two sides madethe decision during a meeting between Xi, also General Secretary of theCommunist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and Bounnhang Vorachit, GeneralSecretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee andPresident of Laos in Vientiane on November 13.

The two countrieswill continue the spirit of good partners, consolidate the China-Laosfriendship and strive to lift their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnershipto a new level.

The two leaders discussedinternational and regional issues of common concern, and reached consensuses.

They agreed that building a community of a shared future with strategicimportance based on mutual trust is in accordance with the interests of the twoparties, two countries and two peoples.

Laos was the last destination of Xi’s first trip abroad since the 19th National Congress of the CPC last month. This was also the first visit of a topChinese leader to Laos since 2006.

Earlier, Xi attended the 25th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meetingin Vietnam’s Da Nang city before arriving in Hanoi to start his state visit toVietnam.-VNA
