Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia and Qatar have agreed on a joint investment commitment of 4 billion USD for priority sectors, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Indonesian sovereign wealth fund Danantara, Pandu Sjahrir said on April 14.

Those priority sectors include food security, energy security, downstream processing, digital infrastructure, healthcare, and tourism.

The CIO noted that this joint investment commitment is distinct from Qatar's previous investment in Indonesia's housing sector, which Housing and Settlements Minister Maruarar Sirait highlighted.

Chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Anindya Bakrie emphasised that this commitment is a follow-up to Indonesia's economic diplomacy efforts and a positive signal from Qatar regarding the increasingly close cooperation between the two countries.

One day earlier, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Qatar, aimed at laying the foundation for strategic dialogue between the two countries.

The MoU on strategic dialogue between Indonesia and Qatar was signed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono and Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. This MoU marks a significant milestone in Indonesia-Qatar relations, supporting the establishment of an annual strategic dialogue between the foreign ministers of both nations.

💯 In addition, the MoU outlines the potential formation of a special working group tasked with implementing specific cooperation initiatives./.
