Indonesia tightens security for Vietnam-Jordan match at AFC U19 champs

Indonesia has deployed a total of 1,300 security personnel to ensure safety is maintained for the match between Vietnam and Jordan in the 2018 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Championship which began at 4pm on October 19.

Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia has deployed a total of 1,300 security personnel to ensuresafety is maintained for the match between Vietnam and Jordan in the 2018 AsianFootball Confederation (AFC) U19 Championship which began at 4pm on October 19.

Ammunitiontrucks, ambulances, and fire engines have also been deployed to the area aroundPatriot Stadium in Bekasi, Indonesia where the match is taking place.

Security forceshave tightened security at the stadium’s entrance and terraces to ensure no onecan bring in dangerous items and prevent acts of terrorism.

Vietnam’s U19 team confirmed their place at the AFC finalafter topping Group G of the event’s qualifying round last year, while Jordanranked first in Group E.

The team meets Jordan in the opening game ofGroup C. Besides Jordan, Vietnam will face 12-time champions the Republic ofKorea and Australia, who have both been to the FIFA U20 World Cup15 times and reached the AFC U19 Championship final in 2010.

To prepare for the AFCevent, the Vietnam team has been busy training in China and Qatar.

Vietnam will next faceAustralia on October 22 and the RoK on October 25.

The top four teams of thetournament will qualify for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup, scheduled to take placein Poland next year. —VNA
