Kuala Lumpur (VNA)🐎 – A letter entitled “IS threat” was sent to a police station in Negri Sembilan state, Malaysia on August 2, claiming that the Islamic State (IS) extremist group is targeting several top leaders.

Attached to the letter were photocopies of the photographs of nine Malaysian and Myanmar leaders, including Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak, Deputy PM Zahid Hamidi, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar, and Myanmar’s State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, said Khalid Abu Bakar.
The two-page letter also claimed there were about 700 IS militants in Negri Sembilan but the police have dismissed the claim. The inspector-general of police noted that police stations in the state, including those in Port Dickson and Nilai, had received at least four similar threats in the past.
However, police are not taking the matter lightly and will track down the letter’s origin and the identity of senders, as well as the individuals behind the threats, he added. The motive is unclear as several foreign leaders were also mentioned in the letters, he said. Prior to this, the terror group has threatened to attack Malaysian police in its latest propaganda video.-VNA
