Laos, Cambodia discuss security matters

Vientiane (VNA) - An annual bilateral meeting between the Ministry of Public Securityof Laos and the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia was held on January 17 in the Laocapital of Vientiane, aiming to discuss security issues between the twocountries.

The meeting wasco-chaired by Somkeo Silavong, Minister of Public Security of Laos and SarKheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Cambodia.

According to the LaoNews Agency (KPL), the two sides briefed each other about progress in theimplementation of the memorandum of understanding the two ministries signed in2017 and their cooperation on keeping peace and order along the common borderof the two countries, efforts in drug control and inspection, anti-humantrafficking efforts, immigration facilitation and visit exchange.

They showedsatisfaction with the implementation of the memorandum of understanding on druginspection and control cooperation by relevant sectors of the two countries atboth central and provincial levels, said the KPL.

The two ministerssigned a memorandum of understanding on the cooperation between the Ministry ofPublic Security of Laos and the Ministry of Interior of Cambodia for 2018.-VNA
