Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysian police have arrestednine men for suspected involvement in activities related to the Islamic State(IS) group.
Malaysia’s Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar stated on March 24 thatall the arrested were Malaysian citizens aging between 26 and 46.
They were detained during counter-terrorism operations across the states ofSelangor, Perak, Kedah, Kelantan and Johor from March 15-21, he added.
There was a 37-year-old primary school teacher who wasarrested in Kedah and police say he admitted to spreading IS ideology throughhis Facebook account in order to recruit new members.
As of Feb 22, a total of 234 Malaysians suspected to be involvedwith IS have been detained by the local police.-VNA
