Singapore issues statement on meeting of Singaporean, DPRK leaders
Singapore’s Foreign Ministry on June 10 issued a press statement following the meeting between Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un.

Hanoi (VNA) – Singapore’s Foreign Ministry on June 10 issued a press statement following themeeting between Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and leader of theDemocratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong-un.
Thestatement said at the first meeting between the two leaders, PM Lee welcomedKim to Singapore. They discussed Singapore-DPRK relations, developmentsin the DPRK and regional developments, including the recent positivedevelopments on the Korean Peninsula.
PM Leecomplimented the decision by Kim and US President Donald Trump to hold theUS-DPRK Summit. He wished Kim success at the US-DPRK Summit and expressed his hopethat the US-DPRK meeting will advance the prospects for peace and stability onthe Korean Peninsula and the larger region.
Earlier,the Yonhap News Agency of the Republic of Korea (RoK) cited Kim as saying that ifhis meeting with Trump is successfully held, Singapore's efforts will behistorically recognised.
Kim also expressed thanks to Lee over Singapore's "provision ofconvenience" to the DPRK’s delegation.
TheUS-DPRK Summit is scheduled to take place at 9am on June 12 (local time) atCapella Hotel on Sentosa Island.-VNA
