Tay Ninh (VNA) – ꦬThe southern province of Tay Ninh is ramping up efforts to remove and rebuild temporary and dilapidated houses in border areas, aiming to provide stable living conditions for disadvantaged families.

This aligns with the nationwide campaign launched under the Prime Minister’s initiative, “Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses by 2025.” As part of this programme, a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 22 new homes for impoverished families in Tay Ninh’s border region took place on March 29. It is spearheaded by the Fund for the Poor of Tan Chau district, in collaboration with Hung Nhon Group, De Heus Group of Netherlands, and Tay Ninh’s National Assembly delegation. Standing on the land where her new home will soon be built, 59-year-old Tran Thi Ngoan from Tan Ha commune, Tan Chau district, could not contain her emotions. Life along the border is challenging, with livelihoods often uncertain. For her, having a solid house that can withstand the elements has been a lifelong dream.
"Now, that dream has come true," Ngoan said, adding that this house will not only protect her family from the weather but also inspire them to work towards a better future. According to Vu Manh Hung, Chairman of Hung Nhon Group, the construction of these 22 homes, worth a total of 2 billion VND (78,200 USD), is more than just an act of charity but is their corporate responsibility to the community. "A sturdy house provides more than just shelter; it serves as a foundation for families to settle down, focus on their livelihoods, and break free from poverty," Hung stated.
Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tan Chau district, emphasised that in recent years, local authorities, businesses, and residents have joined hands to implement various social welfare initiatives, including the eradication of substandard housing. The above-mentioned 22 homes are expected to be completed by April 30, 2025. Once completed, these will be the last temporary and dilapidated homes in the district to be replaced, ensuring that all families have a stable place to live, Cuong affirmed. He further noted that local authorities are actively working to establish partnerships with businesses to create job opportunities, helping residents achieve long-term economic stability./.
