Hanoi (VNA) – Thailand’s Ministry of Labour on September 6 said that it stepped up a campaign against illegal migrant labourers who work in wrong professions and violate the Foreign Employment Act.

Those targeted by the campaign are illegal migrants working in small businesses, selling, hairdressing, construction, carpentry, garment, and tourism.

According to Arak Prommanee, Director-General of the Department of Employment, the agency has inspected many areas in Bangkok and provinces with a large number of migrant labourers, who mostly come from Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.

🍸 Meanwhile, Labour Permanent Secretary Boontarik Smithi said from the beginning of the year to August, a total of 2,419 migrant labourers were arrested because of working in the banned sectors, They included 1,252 Myanmar people, 620 Cambodians, 196 Laotians, and 351 Vietnamese and Chinese.-VNA
