Vietnam Coast Guard vessel pays first visit to India
Vessel 8001 from the High Command of Vietnam Coast Guard, Zone 3, led by Vice Commander Sen. Lt. Col. Nguyen Minh Khanh docked in Chennai port on October 2, beginning its visit to India at the invitation of Rear Admiral Paramesh, Commander of the Indian Coast Guard Eastern Region.
New Delhi (VNA) – Vessel 8001 from the HighCommand of Vietnam Coast Guard, Zone 3, led by Vice Commander Sen. Lt. Col. NguyenMinh Khanh docked in Chennai port on October 2, beginning its visit to India atthe invitation of Rear Admiral Paramesh, Commanderof the Indian Coast Guard Eastern Region.
This was the first time avessel of the Vietnam Coast Guard had visited India.
Following the welcomeceremony, officers of the Indian Coast Guard Eastern Region, as well as officialsand students of Chennai city were invited onto the vessel.
During October 2-6, theVietnamese coast guard delegation will pay a courtesy call to the Command ofthe Indian Coast Guard Eastern Region, visit the Chennai search and rescuecentre to share experience in legal enforcement at sea and preventing piracy, andconduct cultural and sports exchanges with their Indian counterparts.
Earlier on October 1, theVietnam Coast Guard and Indian Coast Guard held high-level talks in New Delhito discuss bilateral cooperation in maritime security and safety.
The six-member Vietnamesedelegation was led by Commander Maj. Gen. Nguyen Van Son while the Indiandelegation was headed by Commander Rajendra Singh.
Both sides agreed to enhancecooperation in line with terms of a memorandum of understanding and shareexperience in operational management and promotion. –VNA
Japan Coast Guard Training Vessel, the Kojima, with 80 officers and crew members on board, docked at Tien Sa Port, the central coastal city of Da Nang on July 24 to begin a five-day visit to Vietnam.
President Tran Dai Quang on August 15 requested the Vietnam Coast Guard to continue coordinating with authorities of island communes and districts to provide more effective and practical assistance for fishermen.

Ship 015-Tran Hung Dao of the Vietnam People’s Navy arrived at Yokosuka naval base in Japan’s Kanagawa prefecture on September 27, Quan doi Nhan dan (People’s Army) newspaper reported.
The trip will be made at the invitations of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF President and CEO Børge Brende, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
