Vietnam, El Salvador ties deepened via people-to-people diplomacy

Hanoi (VNA) – Vice President of the Vietnam Unionof Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong met with Deputy ForeignMinister of El Salvador Carlos Castaneda in Hanoi on August 28.

Their discussion focused on the significance ofpeople-to-people diplomacy to bilateral ties, with Phong presenting hisorganisation’s work in the field to the visiting official.

The VUFO Vice President asked the Deputy FM to help theVUFO’s committee for solidarity with El Salvador people connect with potentialpartners in the Central American country.

He said his organisation appreciates El Salvador’s supporttoward Vietnam’s bid for the post of UNESCO Director General for the 2017-2021tenure from the second round, with hope for its continued assistance forVietnam in upcoming rounds.

Stressing the importance of agencies like the VUFO to solidarityamong nations, Carlos Castaneda noted he would convey the Vietnameseorganisation’s proposals to relevant bodies at home.

Friendship and solidarity are the basis of long-timerelations between Vietnam and El Salvador, he stated.-VNA
