The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee has sent congratulations to the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Central Committee on the 40th anniversary of the two countries’ joint triumph over the genocidal regime (January 7, 1979).

Hanoi (VNA) – The Communist Party of VietnamCentral Committee has sent congratulations to the Cambodian People’s Party(CPP) Central Committee on the 40th anniversary of the two countries’ jointtriumph over the genocidal regime (January 7, 1979).

The message reads that: “40 years ago, under theclear-sighted and steadfast leadership of the CPP and the Kampuchean UnitedFront for National Salvation and with the wholehearted, timely and effectivesupport of friends from near and far, the Cambodian people heroically rose upto topple the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime on January 7, 1979, ending thedarkest period in the history of Cambodia and heralding a new period ofindependence, freedom, neutrality, democracy, social progress and development.

“The Vietnamese Party, State and people pledgeto exert utmost efforts to join the CPP, the State and people of Cambodia inforever maintaining and nurturing the development of the good neighbourliness,traditional friendship, and comprehensive, long-term and sustainable cooperationbetween Vietnam and Cambodia for the prosperity of each country’s people andfor peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world,”the CPV Central Committee affirms in the message. –VNA
