Gia Lai (VNA) – The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai is mobilising all available resources to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses, ensuring stable accommodation for impoverished households, policy beneficiaries, and revolutionary contributors.

As of February this year, thousands of homes had been either newly constructed or renovated across the province. Under a programme calling for concerted efforts serving the work, the goal is to completely replace 8,485 local substandard dwellings. To this end, the Ministry of Public Security has contributed 231 billion VND (9.57 million USD), while several businesses investing in the province have donated nearly 20 billion VND.

The police and military forces have played a pivotal role in the programme so far, actively participating in transporting building materials, erecting house frames, roofing, and contributing thousands of workdays to accelerate construction progress.

In border areas, 10 homes of this kind, funded by the Gia Lai Border Guard, are set for completion before April 10, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025). These houses not only provide secure shelters for poor households but also stand as symbols of solidarity and strong bond between the armed forces and local communities.

Importantly, the new homes are designed to be both sturdy and reflective of the traditional architecture of indigenous ethnic groups, ensuring that they align with local cultural and living conditions.

꧃ Rah Lan Chung, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, affirmed that all-out efforts to remove substandard houses must be carried out transparently, fairly, and efficiently./.
