Outstanding Lao, Cambodian students in HCM City honoured

The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City commended and rewarded 130 outstanding Lao and Cambodian students who are studying in local universities at a ceremony in the city on December 8.

HCM City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of HoChi Minh City commended and rewarded 130 outstanding Lao and Cambodian studentswho are studying in local universities at a ceremony in the city on December 8.

The students, including 97 from Laos and 33 from Cambodia, have achievedgood academic performances and active engagement in youth movements.

According to Pham Kieu Hung from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Unionof Ho Chi Minh City said that the city is hosting 792 Lao and Cambodianstudents studying in 25 local universities and academies.

In the 2018-2019 academic year, the students have joined numerousextracurricular activities, including visits to historical relic sites, andVietnamese-Lao-Cambodian student exchanges, he said.

The students have received optimal conditions to study and live in thecity, he added.

Hung held that the students are not only good mirrors in studying butalso strong factors for the reinforcement and development of friendship betweenVietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

Leng Samnag, a fourth-year student of Nguyen Tat Thanh University,showed delight to study in a dynamic city and receive support from teachers andfellow students.

Over the past 13 years, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ho ChiMinh City has honoured nearly 600 Lao and Cambodian students.-VNA
