Can Tho (VNA) – Leaders of the MekongDelta city of Can Tho held a working session with Indian Consul General in HoChi Minh City Madan Mohan Sethi on March 21 to discuss multifaceted cooperationbetween Can Tho and Indian partners and localities.
Speaking at the event, ViceChairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thuc Hien suggestedorientations for bilateral cooperation in hi-tech agriculture, processingindustry, investment, tourism, health care, education-training and informationtechnology.
He wishedfor India’s support to hold the "India - Can Tho City" networkingconference with an aim to connect Indian importers with local exporters of rice,seafood, farm produce and processed agricultural products, as well as popularisethe city’s tourism.
Can Tho plans to arrange a trip to India in May for a delegation ofinvestment, trade and tourism promotion officers, he said, suggesting that the Indian side helps the delegation hold a working session with the IndianInstitute of Technology to invite Indian investors to Can Tho's concentrated ITzone.
The hostalso wished to visit and share experience in economic and tourism developmentwith authorities of a suitable locality.
Sethi, for his part, pledged to step upcooperation in areas suggested by the host.
He suggested that the Vietnamese delegation visit AndhraPradesh and Telangana states, noting that Telangana is strongis pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, information technology and health care whileAndhra Pradesh hold potential in agriculture, particularly aquatic products andfruits.
On the occasion, the IndianConsulate General and the municipal Department of External Affairs signed acooperation agreement, under which they agreed to enhance information sharingto effectively hold exchange activities, especially in education, culture, arts,information technology, tourism, trade and investment promotion.
